Back in October, we had an author visit by Cowgirl Peg, a.k.a (also known as) Peggy Sundberg. She showed us all her books about her horses and the lessons they can teach us. We heard about Shortstuff, Oakie and Lonesome. She read many of her stories to us, but I think the one we loved the most was the story about her dog, Jazmine. It is such a touching story of how this rescued pet became such a part of her life. Cowgirl Peg gave us the advice to "Write What You Know!". This is wonderful advice to follow when writing any kind of story. She also talked about editing her stories and how many times she goes back to rewrite a sentence to make it say exactly what she means. She taught us about the publisher and the illustrator and their roles in making a book.
